What We Do

Since 1996, Jeff Barge and Lucky Star Communications have brought the media spotlight —via newspaper, magazine, television and radio — to dozens of mostly small business clients and to many authors.

Jeff Barge, the proprietor, is a past writer for Crain's New York Business, Crain’s Cleveland Business, the American Bar Association Journal, Corporate Legal Times, and many more publications. He was the founding editor of a real estate newspaper called Minnesota Real Estate Journal. He was editor and publisher of a network of legal business publications in Minnesota, Washington State, Ohio and Michigan called The Law News Network.

Jeff has done numerous book publicity projects that have been highly successful. These include work for Lama Surya Das (“Awakening the Buddha Within), Steven Carter and Julia Coopersmith, (“Getting to Commitment”), Ellyn Bader and Peter Pearson (“Tell Me No Lies”), and Hale Dwoskin (“The Sedona Method,” a New York Times best-seller.) He has worked on monthly retainer for Integra Realty Resources, the nation’s largest real estate appraisal group; Marlin & Associates, a boutique investment banking firm in New York City; The Roundtable Group, a Chicago litigation consulting firm; Diet Directives, a successful New York City weight-loss program; Alka-Seltzer; Pilot Pen Corp., the nation’s third largest pen company, and E-thepeople.com, a leading cyber democracy website.

“Jeff Barge is a super-creative publicist with great editorial instincts for developing and advancing client stories. He has great rapport with media and is tireless in pursuit of a good placement.”

—Allan Ripp, Ripp Media

“Insanely talented.”

— Bennett Voyles, E-thepeople.com

“Having written popular non-fiction for almost forty years, I have worked with dozens of publicists and P.R. firms. But the most success I have ever had was fueled by the tireless hard work, tenacity, and creativity of Jeff Barge. From feature stories in pretigious newspapers like the Wall Street Journal and Los Angeles Times, to on-air interviews with the most important television and radio shows in the USA, Jeff delivered and delivered and delivered throughout the years. Jeff Barge is in a league of his own.” — Stephen Carter, author of the best-selling “Men Who Can’t Love.”

Jeff Barge has a strong work ethic; smarts and heart; many significant contacts; and is incredibly persistent in achieving success for his clients. He broadened my outreach into the mainstream media, where I had not previously been feature, taking an intelligent and innovative hands-on approach until achieving such desired results.

He worked for months to get a write-up in the influential “O” (Oprah) magazine.

He got me a key feature story about my Buddhist Dzogchen Retreat Center outside Austin, that ran not only in one Texas paper but in all major Texas papers and helped spread the word and further both my charitable mission and book sales too; as well as promoting and having placed important profiles on my work and myself in the New York Post and the Boston Herald.

Jeff faithfully continues to follow up with his clients, even after the particular project term is ended—a rare quality that I have really come to appreciate over the years. He is also a good guy, reliable, and fun to work with!

One would do well to hire Jeff for one’s pr and media needs and purposes. I did, and more than once.

—Lama Surya Das, best-selling author of “Awakening the Buddha Within.”
